Sentiment: from neutral to extreme fear in two days

The Crypto Fear & Greed Index (alternative.me) read 50 on Thursday 5 November, 28 on Friday and 25 on Saturday 7 November (CryptoTicker). The fall followed the 5 November stock rout, more than $1 billion of liquidated leveraged positions in a day (The Block), and the hot October jobs report, which lifted the odds of a Fed rate hike on 9 December (our 7 November report).

What's next on the calendar

  • 10 November: US October inflation (CPI).
  • 8–9 December: the Fed's last meeting of the year; 4 December: the November jobs report.

How to follow it

ETF flows are reported after the US close, so they often explain a move that has already happened on the chart.
