Bitcoin ETFs return to inflows as Binance says 98% of hack losses are replenished

Published · by Hunt4Coin

US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in a net $74.57 million on 4 November 2026, ending three sessions of outflows, while Binance said it has now replenished about 98% of the assets lost in last week's $6.34 billion hack and Polygon began discussing a hard fork to return stolen POL.

ETFs: inflows again, but BlackRock and Fidelity split

After about $1.16 billion of combined outflows on 30 October, 2 November and 3 November, US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net inflow of $74.57 million on 4 November (SoSoValue; Farside rounds it to $74.6 million).

  • Fidelity's FBTC: +$236.7 million, the largest inflow.
  • BlackRock's IBIT: −$201.2 million, the only fund with an outflow.
  • ARK's ARKB +$19.9 million, Bitwise's BITB +$15.2 million, BTCO about +$4 million.
  • Total net assets of the Bitcoin ETFs rose to about $102.26 billion, roughly 6.35% of Bitcoin's market value.

US spot Ether ETFs also took in a net $53 million on the same day, led by BlackRock's ETHA (+$32.8 million) and Fidelity's FETH (+$19.2 million).

Binance: 98% replenished, reserves report widened

Binance said about 98% of the affected assets have been replenished, up from 95% in its previous update, and that users will not be affected financially. The remaining 2% is in less liquid tokens, which it says it will keep buying on the open market and over the counter, so this last part may take longer. Withdrawals are being reinstated gradually.

Its proof of reserves snapshot now covers 44 tokens instead of 10, based on a snapshot taken at 00:00 UTC on 4 November; Binance says the full zero-knowledge proof process takes about 50–60 hours.

In South Korea, the Unification Ministry said on 5 November it has not yet begun talks on sanctions against North Korea tied to the hack, because the government does not yet have the full picture. The FBI attributed the 29 October theft to the North Korean group known as TraderTraitor on 31 October. Background: our 2 November report.

Polygon weighs a hard fork to return stolen POL

A proposal dated 4 November from Polygon Labs' validator support team suggests a coordinated hard fork of Polygon PoS to move about 70.49 million POL (about $6.5 million at the 29 October price) from five restricted attacker addresses to verified recovery wallets: about 46.63 million POL linked to the Binance hack and 23.86 million linked to Polymarket. Total supply would not change. The proposal itself calls it an extreme step that should not become common, and it notes the risk of a chain split for nodes that don't upgrade. It was due for discussion on a governance call at 14:30 UTC on 5 November; if approved, testing would take about two weeks, and Binance and Polymarket would first have to prove they control the recovery wallets. Why prices rose

Reports linked the rebound to the Democratic win in both chambers of Congress (see our earlier report today), a stock market rally (the S&P 500 rose about 1.6%), a sharp fall in oil prices, a weaker dollar and lower Treasury yields, and a short squeeze: about $378 million of short positions were liquidated in one hour, with total liquidations near $747 million over that period (CoinGlass data reported by crypto.news). The official US jobs report for October is due on Friday, 6 November.

How to follow it

Fund flows change day to day, so one day of inflows says little on its own.
