Binance reopens withdrawals after its hack

Binance resumed withdrawals in phases on 1 November after the late-October hack of about $6.3 billion in digital assets. In the first 9.5 hours it processed about $4.65 billion in withdrawals and $1.01 billion in deposits, a net outflow of about $3.64 billion, which is just over 2% of the roughly $171 billion it holds for customers. The exchange says it has replaced about 95% of the affected assets.

  • THORChain paused trading across several chains on 31 October after a one-block Ethereum reorganisation made it pay out 10 ETH by mistake; the ETH has since been returned.
  • NEAR rose about 8.5% ahead of a 2 November vote on lowering its issuance rate.
  • Italy has proposed a 33% exit tax, including unrealised gains, for crypto holders who move abroad.
  • Stablecoins: OnePay and Stripe launched stablecoin deposits with USDC-to-USD conversion across 12 blockchains.
